First off, to everyone who sent out thoughts and prayers for my mother as she had a very major surgery… I give my heartfelt thanks and gratitude. Her surgery was successful, and after a week’s stay in the hospital, she is finally back at home. It’s going to be a long recovery for her, but I know that she has the will to persevere.
Some of my favorite people ever are the crew from the Ubon’s BBQ team. At Memphis in May each year, they have a tradition of serving “The Perfect Sandwich”. For those of you who are not familiar with this sandwich, it is a smoked prime rib sandwich served on a sandwich roll with mayo and horseradish. And if you ask real nicely, Leslie may even dip the inside of the sandwich roll in the au jus for you. The recipe for both the prime rib and the “Perfect Sandwich” can be found in the book Peace, Love, and Barbecue.
It’s been a while since I’ve done a sauce review, so let’s fix that. This is a sauce I’ve had for quite some time now that I’ve been itching to try out. From my home state of Mississippi, here’s Ubon’s Sauce!
Hope everyone has had a great weekend! Today I wanted to write a quick post about one of my favorite giveaways that happens this time of year. This is the time of year where BBQ boys and girls need to be extra good, because BBQ Santa is coming to town!
With day 1 of Memphis in May in the books, it’s time to move on to day 2. The arrival this morning brought the delivery of the hogs to use for the whole hog cooking contest as well as the finishing of brisket for the beef turn-in.
