This weekend was an off weekend for me, so I decided to go and check out the 2012 BBQ Capital Cook-Off in Lexington, NC. This contest is about an hour from where I live. This contest featured 50 teams from all over the country (and the world, but I’ll get to that later).
Again, if I haven’t mentioned how freakin’ excited I am to be going to Memphis in May, I’ll mention it again…

This past Saturday was a day that I have had circled on my calendar for most of the winter so far. It was the day that this BBQ judge came out of hibernation and got to taste BBQ from some of the best BBQ competition teams in the region. This past Saturday was the 16th Annual Kings Mountain Firehouse BBQ Contest. Forty three teams from the Carolinas, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and other states participated in this contest. The weather was perfect for the competition (with the exception of a small shower that came down well after turn-ins were complete).
A month or so back, I was asked by Tim Smallwood (one of my fellow team members on Team Tucker Cooker for Memphis in May) asked me to try out his sauce and give him feedback. Normally I would try it out and give feedback without writing about it on here. Well I tried it out, and quite honestly, this is a sauce you need to know about and try out as well! This is Tiger “Q” BBQ Sauce!
It’s a well-known fact that I’m a huge, huge fan of the products from Draper’s BBQ. So when Shane reached out to me about being one of the first to review his new Moo’d Enhancer beef rub, how could I refuse? After reading the review from Brian and Marilyn of Hot Sauce Daily, I knew this would be a winner. So let’s check it out!

I’m super-excited this year to be invited to be a part of the Tucker Cooker team for the 2012 Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest!
