As you may know, BBQ Pitmasters recently put out a call for audition videos for the new season. Here are some of the videos that I’ve been able to find so far. I have to confess… I have a thing for t-shirts. They’re the perfect way for showing off your passion. Whether it’s a shirt from a BBQ/grilling event, your favorite restaurant, a competition team, or just something that makes you laugh, you can’t go wrong with a shirt! Below are some of the more amusing shirts I’ve seen so far (pictures are linked to a page where they can be purchased). Most of these are bacon-themed because… well… bacon just rocks! A couple of these I already own and can attest to their awesomeness.
My wife and I decided to stay home for Thanksgiving this year. We did this a couple of years ago and really enjoyed ourselves. My original idea was to do a fried turkey this year, but instead we decided to do one on the smoker. Earlier that week, I received a Thanksgiving care package from Heather at Stubb’s BBQ that contained two bottles of injectable marinade and a bottle of chicken rub. It was serendipity! The stars were aligning – smoked turkey was my destiny for this year!
Ever since taking a new position, I have done a bit of traveling for work training. This work training has offered up the chance (when not in training) to take in sights, check out good eats, and meet up with friends. A few weeks ago I was in the DC area, and in between training sessions, I had the chance to do all of the above!
Everybody likes a new toy. It’s okay to admit it… in some form or fashion, we all like to have a new gadget. I’d like to introduce the newest member of my outdoor cooking arsenal – the 22 1/2” Weber Smoky Mountain smoker!
Lexington, NC was the site for the finale for BBQ Pitmasters Season 3. This episode brought the winners from the previous 5 episodes together in the self-proclaimed BBQ Capital of the US to determine who would be the winner of the $50,000 prize as well as a spot in the Kingsford Invitational.
The finale for Season 3 of BBQ Pitmasters is tonight. It was filmed in Lexington, NC at the BBQ Capital Cook Off, and the contestants in this episode are cooking pork shoulder and spare ribs. This episode will feature the winners from the previous 5 episodes:
Episode 4 of BBQ Pitmasters Season 3 is now in the books. The official motto for this episode should be “If it wasn’t for injections, I’d be sober”.
Last week, the rules for the Unofficially Official BBQ Pitmasters Drinking Game were announced in time for the third episode of the current season. As you may know already, the first five episodes will feature 15 BBQ pitmasters (that’s three per episode) competing at various BBQ festivals throughout the country for a spot in the winner-take-all season finale. The winner of the finale receives $50,000, an invitation to the Kingsford Invitational, and the coveted title of Kingsford BBQ Pitmasters Grand Champion. Three of the most well-known BBQ personalities are serving as judges for this season – Myron Mixon of Jack’s Old South, Tuffy Stone of Cool Smoke, and Aaron Franklin of Franklin Barbecue.
