With Independence Day well into our rear view mirrors, it’s time to look forward to the next major grilling holiday. Now I know what diehard grilling and outdoor cooking fanatics are thinking, “Grilling season runs from January 1st to December 31st.” I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. However, if you’re looking for an upcoming holiday as an excuse to have an all-out grilling extravaganza, Labor Day is not too far off. Or if you’re wanting a better reason, use a friend’s birthday, a relative’s birthday, or even my birthday as an excuse to get out and grill! (By the way, my birthday was this past Sunday – August 4th – so feel free to send gifts.)
As a Grillerhood Ambassador for McCormick®, I get the privilege of trying out many of the new seasonings, sauces, and marinade mixes out on the market. I’ve played around with their new Montreal Steak Seasoning Steak Sauce (which is awesome) and their Smokin’ Sweet Tea Marinade (which my good friends Brian and Marilyn from Hot Sauce Daily raved over). I thought it was time to break out another one of the new flavors – the Worcestershire Pub Burger Seasoning.
The Worcestershire Pub Burger seasoning is a dry blend of cracked black peppercorn, garlic, toasted onion, and dried Worcestershire sauce that’ll add a savory kick to just about anything. And while in the grocery store one evening, I saw some beautiful ground bison that I picked up. Bison burger time!!
Since it’s just my wife and me, most of our recipes are scaled down for 2-3 servings. But the beauty of this is that it is very scalable! So a good starting point is to take 2 lb. of ground bison, 2 tbsp of McCormick® Grill Mates® Worcestershire Pub Burger Seasoning and blend together. Now how you divvy up the burgers is up to you. For my wife and me, we went the standard burger-and-fixin’s route with lettuce and tomato on a nice potato sandwich roll.
Another option that would be awesome here: bison sliders! Set up a bison slider station and let your friends come up with their own concoctions. For those who like it on the spicy side, mix up a little of this sriracha mayo and add a little fire in their life. The recipe is super easy – just combine the ingredients below and mix until thoroughly incorporated together.
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (I used light mayo because I’m watching my figure)
- 1 tbsp sriracha chili sauce
- 1/2 tsp prepared horseradish
- 1/2 tsp McCormick® Ground Black Pepper
I’d love to hear your ideas on how to best use this seasoning. Post your ideas in the comments section below, or visit the McCormick® Grill Mates® Facebook page.
