Fun with Web Design and Bacon

This post is going to be a bit off-topic today… that is, unless you’re into web design and development.

For those of you who may not know, my primary day job/career has been in the IT industry — specifically web and software development.  One of the joys of doing web and software development has been coming up with visual prototypes to present to clients.  And sometimes, it’s quite frankly a pain in the butt to find that perfectly sized image to put in the mock.  Or even better, the standard Lorem Ipsum generator just isn’t going to cut it.

Well there is good news!  When reading Scott Hanselman’s blog (web technologist employed by Microsoft), I came across this post.  And as I dug further in, I hit the motherlode…  BACON!  Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce two sites to you that you may have never heard of…

First up — Bacon Mockup.  This gem of a site not only generates placeholder images for your mocks, but it generates placeholder images of BACON!!  That’s a sure-fire way to get your design approved, no questions asked!

And the second site is for when standard Lorem Ipsum text just won’t do… now enter Bacon Ipsum!  Just specify a couple of pieces of information, and you’ll soon have meatier, tastier filler text!

“Bacon ipsum dolor sit amet flank pork belly ex labore pork do aute non jerky meatball pork chop. Ex kielbasa tongue, pancetta sirloin flank cupidatat ad venison strip steak shoulder tenderloin. Hamburger brisket leberkas, swine eiusmod bacon sint excepteur ham hock tri-tip nisi irure. Flank hamburger frankfurter, ut aute pariatur reprehenderit magna kielbasa boudin irure quis sed fatback brisket. Velit anim incididunt, occaecat elit aute jowl turkey. Pork loin fatback fugiat aliqua bresaola doner nisi tail corned beef…”

That just makes my mouth water there!

Anyway… Happy Friday, everyone!
