Episode 4 of BBQ Pitmasters Season 3 is now in the books. The official motto for this episode should be “If it wasn’t for injections, I’d be sober”.
The two meats cooked for this episode were beef back ribs and fresh ham (not that cured, pre-smoked stuff). The contestants for this episode were as follows (listed in order of finish):
- Corey Brinson, Fatback’s BBQ & Rib Shack
- Lee Ann Whippen, Wood Chicks BBQ
- Shane McBride, Ribdiculous Bar-B-Krewe
For an excellent synopsis of this episode, please take a look at Craig “Meathead” Goldwyn’s article on The Huffington Post. While I may not agree with all of his opinions, his summary of each contestant’s approach is spot on.
So as I mentioned in my recap from episode 3, I added two new rules: drink for each “squeeze butter” sighting, and drink for each injection mention. The new injection rule accounted for nearly half of the fifteen drinks I logged for this episode. The breakdown is below:
- Injection – 7
- Trash Talking – 5
- Myron Mixing swearing – 2
- Squeeze Butter – 1
Combined with the seventeen drinks from episode 3, that puts the grand total at 32 drinks.
The next episode was filmed in Salisbury, MD at Pork in the Park. The meats for the next episode are chicken and rack of pork. I know two of the contestants but need to confirm the third. If someone can let me know who the third contestant is for round 5, I’d greatly appreciate it!
