Review: Kosmos Reserve Blend Brisket Injection

Ah brisket. A tough, unforgiving piece of beef that is difficult to cook properly. Luckily, there is a product on the market to help brisket cookers from the novice backyard chef to the expert pitmaster. Kosmos Reserve Blend Brisket Injection.

Packaging:  Very classy pouch style container.  Kosmo’s signature flaming Q is offset by the glossy black background.

Smell: Strong beef scent with a background of salt.  If this tastes like it smells, it’s going to be fantastic!

Raw Taste: Intense flavor.  Beef is again predominant.  Let’s mix some up and give it a taste.

Mixed Flavor: I mixed it per the instructions on the package…3/4 cup Kosmos to 2 1/2 cups liquid (I used 1 cup apple juice and 1 1/2 cup water).   The mixed flavor is phenomenal.

Let’s inject a brisket.  I place a trimmed packer into a large zip-top bag, filled my injector with Kosmos and went to work.  Forming a grid, every inch got some good, beefy injection.

The rest of the liquid was poured into the bag along with the brisket.  Don’t waste a drop!

After a beefy bath, the whole brisket was coated with Kosmos Cow Cover.  But that is story for another time…  :-)

The result…..

Tender slices.

The picture is a little hard to see, but these slices are moist, tender and beefy.   Good enough for 6th place.

Final Verdict: Kosmos injections and soaks are well known on the competition bbq circuit.  After using this product just this once, I can see why.  Kosmos Reserve Blend Beef Injection helped turn a tough piece of beef into a succulent, tender, full-flavored slice of heaven.  This is a product I am adding to my competition bbq arsenal on a permanent basis right now…it’s that good.  GREAT product Kosmos!!  Go out and get yourself some today.

I’ve GOT to give Kosmos products a try. I’ve heard great things about them.

I have to try this injection. This weekend I just used a beef broth, worcestershire, and MSG thing I made up. it was good but wonder what I might be missing with these power injections.
